El comedor de la abuela

Grandma's Dining Room

Memories and an imaginative journey through the world's cuisines.

My grandma inherited nine chairs. They had belonged to her mother’s mother, and all the members of the family sat there, in her dining room, to enjoy the delicacies that her hands prepared every Sunday.

A family meets every Sunday for lunch at the grandmother’s house, who prepares the most varied delicacies. The grown-ups sit on the red chairs in the main dining room and the children sit at the kid’s table, observing that things happen to the adults while they eat. When they turn 15, the grandchildren go to the dining room of the great ones and understand, each one in turn, what happens: the chairs travel to the places of origin of each dish that the grandmother serves them at Sunday lunch.
