Grandfather's Journey

Grandfather’s Journey is an intimate poetic story, narrated from the sweet perspective of a girl who bids farewell to her grandfather on his deathbed. Through dreamlike images and short texts, it shows the grandfather’s magical journey through the train of his memories and happy places; a train that will take him to the last station where his loved ones, who left before, are waiting for him with a warm hug.

The author offers us a way of understanding and experiencing the cycle of life and death as a transit, and invites us to observe the difficult moment of mourning from a kind, calm and respectful place.

The careful selection of characters and the use of colour through layers of different shades in Myo Yim’s pencil illustrations add luminosity and blend in perfect harmony with Paulina Jara’s texts.

This work, with texts by a Chilean author and illustrations by a Korean artist, was made possible thanks to the unprecedented joint collaboration between Muñeca de Trapo Ediciones, the Korean publishing house Noran Sangsang and the literary agencies Greenbook Agency (Korea) and VLP Agency. As a result, the book will be published in both Spanish and Korean in both countries.
