Ícaro

Icarus

A metaphorical book about conventionalisms and the freedom of everybody to live as they wish.

–Tell me: how long have you been on your own?
–About a month, I think…
–Do you have any idea of the whereabouts of your parents?
–Yes, of course I have.
–So? How could we find them?
–That’s not possible.

A child arrives at a shelter and the assistants try to find out the whereabouts of his parents. But contrary to what they believe, he is not an abandoned child; the protagonist of this beautiful story makes us participants of another reality, outside conventionalisms. Ícaro, winner of the 7th International Compostela Prize for Picture Books, is about the desire for freedom, difference and hope; its message identifies with those who go against the tide, faced with the incomprehension of the environment that surrounds them, incapable of seeing beyond the apparent.
