Atmosphere, Earth’s Transparent Scarf
The Moon has no air (the complicated word for air is “atmosphere”). That is, there are no gases surrounding it. Mars does, but its atmosphere is very thin. Earth, on the other hand, has one filled with many gases. There is oxygen (21%) and several other gases: nitrogen (78%), followed by argon, carbon dioxide, water vapour and others. Clouds are made of water vapour (H2O). That is, two gases: oxygen and hydrogen.
Depending on the amount and proportion of gases in the atmosphere, the amount of heat our planet stores from the sun changes. This function of the atmosphere is called the greenhouse effect.
Floods, fires, tsunamis, heat waves, hail and tidal waves; the climate has gone crazy due to human action. How to save the planet, the animals and every living thing from this catastrophe? Teo and his rabbit Leon travel the world to understand climate change and how to avoid it. On their journey they will see from the effects of cooking gas, to springtails in Antarctica, to the Big Ben hamburger. What changes when we talk about “climate change”? What consequences does this have on our planet and its natural cycles? And what effect does it have on our societies, which tend to celebrate change? This book seeks to provide a clear, integrated and historical look at the elements that shape this important phenomenon, which will influence our lives. It is a call to think and act and thereby change the horizon of humanity.
